Common Problems:
Running out of hot water:
There are 3 primary causes:
1. Size of the system - ensure that the hot water system capacity is appropriate for the number of people in the household. A good guide would be for a household of 4 taking an average of 1.5 showers per day, has a dishwasher and has a large bath / spa might require a 400 Litre system.
Remember, however, with many houses having two (or more) bathrooms, spas and dishwashers, demand can vary between households and in the same household over time.
2. Off Peak heating cycle and,
3. Temperature heating settings.
Water temperature in most hot water systems is set between 65o and 75oC. The ambient temperature of tap water can vary up to 20o through winter and summer. Heating water from 4oC to 70oC in winter as apposed to 20oC to 70oC in summer can take 20% longer and consumes more electricity.
Dirty Water:
Could be caused by premature breakdown of the steel cylinder. Flushing of the tank is usually a very short term solution and is not recommended ?????WHY
Leaking Shower Membrane, Wet Carpet, Discoloured Tiles and Grout:
Check all pipe connections (that are visable) for signs of dripping or cracks and leaks.
Check all taps and shower roses for faulty O rings and washers. There are three places from which a tap can leak: from the tap washer, through the spout where the spindle screws into the head, or from around the body washer.
